Is the ASUS A53E-TS52 Really a Good Multiple Monitor Laptop?

Many day traders, FOREX traders and business people that use multiple monitors tend to travel a lot for business, pleasure or both.  A problem that has developed though, is that packing up your multiple monitor computer is a lot is pretty much impossible.  Even worse is trying to install the same software, along with all your current files on to a laptop just for traveling.  There may be a couple of solutions available, but probably the least expensive and easiest option is to use a laptop that can power multiple screens, but can also be backed up for your trips.  One popular model of computer that does just that is the ASUS A53E-TS52.

Asus is a Taiwanese computer company that has been around since 1990.  They got their start manufacturing components such as motherboards and video cards, but have since moved into the desktop, laptop, tablet and mobile markets.  They’ve earned a pretty solid reputation for delivering on both quality and cost/value.  In fact, if you own a Dell, HP or Apple product, chances are you probably using an ASUS component.   Globally, ASUS is worth around 1.3 billion dollars, making them one of Asia’s top 10 biggest companies.

So what about the ASUS A53E-TS52?   Well, much like a lot of their products, this laptop is an extremely high quality laptop, that exceeds user expectations on both performance and cost.  Stock it comes with a couple of features that make it stand above most.  First and foremost it offers the 2nd Generation of Intel’s Core i5-2450M 2.5 Ghz Dual-Core processor.  The i5 is a powerful processor; in fact it’s powerful enough that it’s the choice graphic designers, Photoshop wizzes, movie editing pros, recording engineers and many more.  It also includes 6 GB of DDR3 RAM, which should exceed any need when powering dual or triple screens.  Including as well are the following:

  • 750 GB hard drive
  • CD/DVD Burner
  • Blu-Ray Player
  • 802.11 b/g/n wireless card,
  • SD, SDHC, MS, MS PRO, and MMC Card Reader
  • 15.6-inch HD LCD Display

Combine this laptop with a DualHead2Go or TripleHead2Go from Matrox, and it’s a great multiple monitor computer system.  What are DualHead2Go and TripleHead2Go you ask?  These are adapters that allow you to hook up additional monitors to your computer with installing additional video cards or hardware.  In fact, they are so convenient that many people use them for their desktops as well, just to avoid having to open the case and install extra hardware.  But they work fantastically for laptops, and are probably the easiest solution.

So what about price for hooking up a multiple monitor computer to the ASUS A53E-TS52?  Well it’s not as much as you might think.  The ASUS A53E-TS52 is going to run you around $1000, which isn’t bad considering what you’re getting.  If you want to hook up multiple screens, then the adapters mentioned above are $269 and $379 respectively, with a few different models available.  The primary differences that you’ll see in price are a) the number of outputs and b) VGA vs. DVI.  Which one you decide to buy is really up to you and depends solely on your needs, such as what you’ll be using the computer for.

Finally, if you plan to use multiple monitors with your new ASUS, you’ll need to purchase a monitor array- that is a stand that holds multiple monitors.  These vary anywhere from two screens, up to 3 for your laptop.  Cost wise, they are start around $500 and can go up to over $1000.  Again the arrangement and number of monitors that you need will vary, depending on what you want to do with your system.
